ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Expressing shock over devastating fire accident at Kamba that gutted 13 houses, Galo Students’ Union (GSU) has sincerely appealed to the state govt. to provide adequate relief to the victims, who have lost their all belongings, as early as possible for their quick rehabilitation.
GSU, at same time, strongly appealed to the Kamba ADC to constitute a committee to assess the properties lost and damaged in the fire as well as investigate cause of the fire.

Syndicate Bank announces quarter-
ITANAGAR, July 30: Syndicate Bank announces financial results for the Quarter ended June 30. Syndicate Bank, one of the large Nationalized Banks has achieved the global business level of more than Rs 3,31,896 crorc.
Global deposit has soared to Rs 1,82,513 crore from Rs 1,57,276 crorc (up by 2.37yoy). Inspite of challenging environment bank could post a decent operating profit from Rs 841 crore to Rs 949 crore (up by 13% yoy). Similarly Global Advances also increased from Rs 1, 29,171 crore to Rs 1,49, 383 crore. Global Business increased from Rs 2,86,447 crore to Rs 3,31, 896 crore (up by 16% yoy). Cost to income ratio decreased to 41.87% from 45.90% as at 30.06.2012 due to cost saving measures adopted by the bank, like reduction in high cost deposits. Book value per share increased to Rs 183.46 from Rs 157.39 (Ql 13 to Q1 14) due to improved profits. Earnings per share increased to Rs 30.05 from Rs 29.25 (annualized). Other income has improved from Rs.236 Crore to Rs. 294 Crore because of Higher Treasury Profits year on year. Net Interest Margin is at 2.83% and Return on Assets is at 0.89%.
Shooting of Monpa feature film Pwnsum in full swing
ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Shooting of Monpa feature film Pwnsum produced by Thupten Nema is going on in full swing at Tawang.
Lham Dorjee, who is the director of the films, plays the lead character in the film while Bamang Pami plays the female lead role. Other actor and actresses of the film are Baby, Kuku, Lobsang, L Dorjee etc, informed film maker and senior journalist Taro chatung.
The shoot for the film which started on July 15 is expected to complete in the first week of next month.
Pami had played the lead female roles in two Hindi films, namely "Raste Anek Ant Ek" and "Jully Koneng Tere Liye." She is actively involving herself in both film production and acting. She has own production house with a team.

Call to fight stigma, discrimination associated with mental illness
ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Community mental health awareness cum outreach service was conducted by a mental health team from Arunachal State Hospital led by Dr. Haniya Payee, senior neuropsychiatrist at Mother’s Home at Lekhi village today.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Payee, who is also the state programme officer (mental health), said that mental illness are not result of personal weakness, poor upbringing or lack of character etc. Mental illness is just like any other diseases like asthma, gastritis etc. Most people with mental illness are not violent, he said and appealed to fight the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
Dr. Payee lauded the services of Mother’s Home to the homeless and mentally ill persons and encouraged everyone to follow the example.
Later, the team examined the inmates of the home and conducted routine blood tests and gave necessary treatment.

NCP for high power panel to enquire into land allotment process
ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Terming the land allotment process in the entire state especially in the twin Capital of Itanagar and Naharlagun as one of the biggest scams after Hydro Power and illegal mining the NCP Unit of Arunachal urged the ruling Congress Govt. of the state to constitute a High Power Committee headed by a sitting or a retired High Court Judge to unearth the truth and find out the persons responsible for the mess and misuse of official positions since Arunachal achieving the status of Union Territory and the Statehood.
The party Spokesman T. Naksang, while pointing numerous lacunas and contradictions in the land allotment process, urged the Govt. to address the systemic failure and come up with a strong policy decision after going through the findings of the Committee.
Condemning the element of selectivity adopted by the Law enforcing agencies particularly the reported issuance of ‘Arrest Order’ to only two legislators of a particular political party and few other soft targets, T. Naksang stated that law is for all and everybody irrespective of his/ her background must be treated equally.
Urging the Govt. and its machinery to immediately draw a strategy to tackle cases of encroachment ranging from naked encroachers wherein the Govt. structures have been a completely wiped out and private buildings have been constructed to mild encroachers of Govt. premises by few metres. Also the policy strategy must address cases wherein the individuals have been allotted formal allotment orders and yet they have leveled as encroachers even in news paper and thereby bringing in the possibility of defamation suits running into crores. According to Naksang, if this land of Khushi attitude and land of Lahe Lahe culture is allowed to be continued then a day is not far when CM’s Officials Bungalow compound followed by Governor’s Palatial Premises too will be encroached and allotted subject to payment of suitable bribe price to the authorities running the whole show.
Agreeing the views aired by PPA, Naksang suggested the Govt. that since more than 90% of the Govt. lands have been already encroached and Govt. through its own machineries have already granted allotment orders to more than 70 per cent of the so called encroachers, it is therefore optionless on the part of the Govt. to either compensate in case of carrying out demolition exercise or regularize the intentional illegalities committed by all stake holders. “Since Govt. is almost bankrupt and can’t renovate and reconstruct all its old and dilapidated structures, it would be therefore, in the fitness of things by the Govt. of the day to wake up from the slumber of confusions and save the interest of all stake holders,” the NCP spokesperson added.

RGU introducing Semester System in UG courses from current session
ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is introducing semester system in
undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Mass Communication from the academic
session 2013-
Addressing the workshop, Vice Chancellor Prof. Tamo Mibang expressed the hope that implementation of semester system in under graduate courses will immensely benefit the students of Arunachal Pradesh. Prof Mibang informed that RGU has started the semester system on experimental basis in phase manner, and other disciplines will be covered in the next phases.
Explaining the objective of the workshop, Prof. D N Das, Dean and Faculty of Life Sciences said, “This workshop will make the college teachers acquainted with strategies and modalities of the semester program in undergraduate courses of RGU, and will help the colleges to run the course smoothly and successfully”.
In the inaugural function, Prof. A K Das of Botany reviewed the various benefits of semester system in different Universities of India. He stated that it encourages involvement of more students in teaching and learning process than the traditional annual system of courses.
Prof. A Mitra, Dept of Economics, who is also the Chairman of Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) RGU in his inaugural speech, opined that no doubt the semester will be student friendly but the college authority must provide requisite infrastructure for its successful implementation.
Dr. Rachob Taba, Registrar also expressed optimism about the success of semester system in the colleges of RGU and stressed the need for immediate implementation of the system as per UGC guideline.

TEZU, Jul 30: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Tezu organized a one day fertility camp for the livestock owners at the BRTF camp, Demwe on July 26. More than 30 trainees took part in the training camp.
Attending the program, Dr. (Capt.) MM Panigrahi, 48 BRTF, Demwe appreciated the endeavor of the AH&V department for rendering their selfless service to the society. He called upon the trainees to take up artificial insemination for high milk production.
Dr. Karma Dorje, DIO, East Zone asked the farmers to come forward and adopt the advancing technology in the field of animal husbandry which will multiple the milk production in the area.
District AH and Veterinary Officer Dr. H Tama informed the trainees about the various ongoing schemes in the department, such as Rural Backyard Poultry Development Scheme, RKVY, Subsidy Scheme of Goatery, Piggery, Dairy (State Plan) & Livestock Insurance Schemes etc. and urged them to take up these schemes.

Global Tiger Day
Global Tiger Day was observed on Moday to raise awareness on the plight of the magnificent big cat. With their population dwindling across countries, the number of wild tigers has fallen disastrously, mainly due to poaching and the destruction of forests.
The India chapter of World Wildlife Fund organised awareness events across the country to honour and recognise forest guards for their contribution towards tiger conservation. Hundreds of school and college students participated in the awareness rallies. Drawing and painting competitions, debates and discussions were also held on tiger conservation.
Human encroachment of forests driven by population explosion is the main reason for decline in the number of tigers. Since independence, large chunks of prime tiger habitats have been lost forever to agriculture and developmental activities.
When animals at the top and the bottom of the food chain start to decline, it is a clear sign that the entire ecosystem is in trouble. Tourism flourishes where tigers are accessible and that lends support to the local economy. Project Tiger, launched in the early seventies, has put the endangered tiger on a definite path to recovery. The World Wildlife Fund rightly sums it up: A home for tigers is a home for others.

School, Itanagar would like to request our apex student organizations like ANSU, AAPSU and also to all the citizen of capital complex, Public leaders, NGO's, bureaucrats, Local MLA, Minister's and Govt. Officer's to help us to protect our temple of learning i.e Govt. Hr. Sec. School which is the first Hr. Sec. School of Itanagar. It is the school where thousands of poor students are getting proper education from very well qualified and experience teachers. People around school are encroaching land for link road project to the colony behind school campus. Already there is road which connects that colony. They are using school land for their personal benefit. The vehicle which passes through the said road during school hour creates lots of noise which directly affect ongoing classes. Hence student's as well as teacher's are not able to concentrate in their classes.
Also some time we face high risk of accident while students are playing in school ground. If any such unfortunate incident happens then who will take the responsibility? So, we request mentioned organizations, Leader's, Govt. Officer's, MLA, Minister's to help us from such encroachment problem.
Once again we request all concern especially ANSU and AAPSU, the parent body to cooperate us to deal with this matter as soon as possible. Before starting any action from our side we would like to inform you and belief your full corporation will be with us for this social work. We had already decided to start out our course of action from 5th Aug'2013, like blocking mentioned road etc. We are ready to battle out to save our school from encroachment nemesis.

If it is true, it is really a serious matter if people are posting in Facebook forum like—“Kill all the Harings….. Burn the houses of Nepalis….….Chase away Tibetians.” Really! Why so much hatred?

If I am not wrong these Harings like Jha, Srivashtav, Dubey, Nair, Choubey, Pandey,
Roy, Dutta, etc were the people who helped us in distress. They educated our great
grandfathers, fathers and us as well. During 1960s, & 70s, they came into our dark
land, climbed in our hilly terrains, many slipped and died, despite this they came
and educated our forefathers who were barbaric and uncivilized, busy in killing each
other’s tribes, clans and struggling for living. They educated and civilized our
people and made Arunachal a better place to live. They worked at every grassroots
level of Arunachal Pradesh. They were the people who built our road, bridges & drainage
(BRO’s are filled with Harings). They were the people who groomed our generations
and gave state figures like Robin Hibu, Indra Mallo, Tope bam, etc.and many unknown
graduates and intellectuals. These Harings and Nepalese are the people who bleed

As year after year are passing by, our population is increasing and resources are decreasing. High fiscal deficit, bad infrastructure, degrading education system, poor medical facility, our state is not growing instead falling down the graph. In coming years, possibly there would be population explosion, and harsh situation could develop in our state. This is the time we must think above the clan prejudice and communalism. We must all work together, then only we will survive, otherwise there would be chaos and place could be hell (like Manipur). Be liberal in thoughts and action. I support the eviction drive of illegal immigrants like Bangladeshi, chakma, hajong, and Tibetian, but in a legitimate way, not with the use of violence. If violence works then Naga’s would have their independence, Punjabi’s should have got their Khalistan by now. My highest appeal to the authority engaged in administration of issuing of ST/PRC, no ST/PRC to outsider please. You all do not perform in most of the cases but at least perform efficiently in this matter.
I am nobody to poke into others personal matter, however on humanitarian ground, do not post such inflammatory comments. You must know that your impulsive, derogatory and irrational comment in social networking site like Facebook could provoke something very bad. Kindly, stop posting your costly and pointless comments. In fact, I appeal, get out of this silly Facebook thing. Better, get yourself engaged in productive work instead. Take some responsibility in your shoulder, Graduates study hard to get into system and work for state’s development and the undergraduate engaged themselves in trade and commerce activity or else go to field and grow something which can boost our economy. For example, if anyone develop fish pond and sell ten fishes, I think he/she will contribute at least 0.000001% to state’s economy which is far better than doing absurd posting in Facebook, and by making rave comment without understanding the ground reality. I urge the people to spread the positive message not the message of divide and hatred. If one cannot make positive comment it’s better to stay quiet. Lastly, many may not agree with my opinion, I welcome their reasonable critical Evaluation. God! Let peace prevail in Arunachal!

RGU officials lack professionalism

Rajiv Gandhi University the lone institute of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh is the dream of thousand aspirants and destine of many achiever. In recent time it has been conferred central university status for strengthening and improving educational system, infrastructure and research & development activities. It stands as backbone of state in bringing change in state. But when we see the actual working environment of RGU it is hard to believe that RGU can provide any bright future to anyone on rationality ground. Every time it creates chaos and confusion among student. This was my experience during the time of form submission for entrance exam of M.Phil and Ph.D programme. Concern authority has made us clear that JRF holder are exempted from appearing M.Phil & Ph.D entrance exam but when result came out I was confused as my name was not there in selected list in M.Phil. When we enquire about the matter, administration replied that there is no such exempted facility in regards to M.Phil. If such facility was not there, they should confirm the same at the time of submission of form. Why now after the declaration of result? Whom to blame? Lastly, this is an appeal to concern authority to consider the matter and provide proper guideline as per UGC norms so that JRF holder may not be deprived of their right and can undertake advance learning and research activity within the time frame provided by UGC.

Don’t spread wrong information
Dear Editor,
I am highly perturbed at seeing few immature individuals, who have clothed themselves with the energy of AIMSU/AMSU to malign the image of whose and whos in Anjaw district.
In one of your recent news item one of the headings quoted "AIMSU calls on Governor and CS" but the content carries a news item on Anjaw, so I presume it as it is of AMSU.
Being from Anjaw, I am very much thankful to AMSU for keeping special concern over Anjaw district in spite of having so many burning and troublesome issues in lowland Mishmi area (Lohit district) such as Refugee issue, PRC issue, Land encroachment issue, Land grabbing by politicians, Bangladeshi issue, Demographic proportion issue, employment proportion with Mishmi and rest, anti Mishmi attitude by figured people etc.
However while keeping concern at the level of the state's first citizen, they should not have interpreted with wrong figure and they must refrained from derailing the truth. In their statement, they have easily claimed that 'all developmental schemes are deprived in Anjaw under few individuals' that means nothing sort of development is taking place or nothing is reaching to the people.
Now I am worried why these pessimist people go dumb and deaf when so many developmental
activities are going on in the district. Let them see the quantum of CGI sheets distributed
in the district to poor people which I think is highest in the state. Let them measure
the PMGSY road which connects the rural villages. Let them see and compare the quality
and pace of infrastructural development. Let them compare the economic status of

My dear younger’s never use Opium as a weapon to malign any individuals' image in any level. It is a serious and most challenging menace we have in our society. It never grew with a patronage from any figure of this generation nor has it grown into our land because of deprivation from developmental schemes. It has existed with us for quite a long time before the birth of any of our present legislators. Popy fields in Kamlang valley (Turung reserve), plains areas in Tezu belt, open Kani market on Sunday at Medo bazzar is all not under area of Anjaw legislator. So to whom will you make responsible for these cocaine Valley. Moreover I have often seen silent AMSU on this dangerous menace ever since I gathered my interest on this issue. But all of a sudden they stood up today to link with some season people to destroy his/her image before the state by linking with developments in Anjaw district. But these young men must know that this state truly knows the history of Opiun penetration into Arunachal and this menace can be curbed only by uniting the voice from all corners. By pin pointing any single person for this menace, you will never be able to curb the menace.
I shall be happy to see this Union's sincerity on this menace in future instead of publishing in papers only.

Backdoor still prevalent
Dear Editor,
Through your daily I would like to draw your kind attention towards the back door appointment of group B, C, and D post in different govt department.
Its noticed that every month appointment are made against post in the name of officiating, deputation, contract basis and contingency but when we enquire with the officers, they says no vacancy or wait for new advertisements.
We the unemployed educated youth are victimized. I on behalf of educated youth of Arunachal Pradesh appeal to the state govt and head of the department for timely recruitment through competitive examination
